What do you think about police gratuity?

Ive asked our local police station about their policy on police gratuity and their policy to not accept it due to the fine line between apprication and bribery. Im curious about what society thinks of gratuity do you think its ok for police to get a free cup of coffee/soda, free donuts, discounts.. etc.. welcome all comments for and against police gratuities.
