Why do left wingers get very, very defensive and lash out when ACORN tactics are exposed?

Because however hard they try to rationalize Acorns illegal and unethical behavior with their creed of "The ends justify the means", they know Acorn is basically a criminal organization and when it is exposed it threatens their own self image. The left is extremely preoccupied with the fear of something making them look bad.
